What is Rotary?

Rotary International, now more than 100 years old, is the world’s first service club organization. The 1.2 million men and women of Rotary are business and professional leaders dedicated to making a difference in communities around the world through the credo “Service Above Self.” Members are volunteers who work on both local and international projects to combat hungerimprove health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace and eradicate polio. With Rotary, it’s easy to be active and make a difference. Whether your interests lie in education, mentoring youth, clean water, healthcare, economic development, peace initiatives, or a number of community service projects, there is always something to do.

What is expected of members?

Members are encouraged to attend meetings on a regular basis. Fellowship at our weekly meetings is the fabric of the Club that keeps us active in the community and successful with our service projects.
Members serve on at least two committees and regularly participate in committee projects. Time commitment varies by committee and member interests.
Members are expected to contribute financially to the Club and our local Rotary Foundation, and they pay annual membership dues.

How many Rotary Clubs does Phuket have?

Currently, there are nine. The Rotary Club of Patong beach is the only English-speaking club in Phuket and only one of three English speaking rotary club's in District 3330.

When does the Rotary Club of Phuket meet?

We meet every Tuesday evening at 19:00 in Patong at the Four Point Sheraton hotel, except the first Tuesday of the month when we have our dinner-out on different locations around the island. The cost for each meeting is 500 Thai Baht plus drinks.

How much are membership dues?

Membership dues are currently set at 9,000 Thai Baht per year active non-corporate members. For corporate members please contact our membership chair to receive more information.

How many members does the Rotary Club of Patong Beach have have?

We are about 20 members, but we are looking to grow and need more active members. 

What causes does The Rotary Club of Patong Beach support?

Locally, we conduct numerous community projects for underprivileged people. We also run a legacy project called "Learn to swim" as drowning is the major cause of fatality among children below 15 years old. The Patong Hospital is another institution we are supporting with necessary equipment. Our causes align with the six major causes of Rotary International

What do I do if I want to join – or attend a meeting?

We would love to have you attend a meeting to see if the Rotary Club of Patong beach is the right club for you! If you know a current member, please ask them if you can attend as their guest. If you don’t know anyone, email our club secretary, and let her know you’d like to attend. If membership seems like the right path for you, our Membership chair will line up a sponsor and club mentor for you.
