PP Larry Amsden presided over the weekly meeting in P. Richards’s absence.  Twelve members plus Jimmy (honorary member) and guest Gilbert Van Kerchkhove of the Rotary Club of Beijing attended. Debra, Alastair and Jimmy reported on an event on Thursday where helmets from the Rotary helmet programme and scholarships were presented to children from the schools RCoPB supports.
Gilbert talked about belonging to a Rotary club in China, where non-registration makes his club technically illegal. Nonetheless, the Club supports projects such as “Gift for Life” to help people with congenital heart disease, placing books in school libraries and running a hotline to assist families experiencing difficulties in the home. Walter gave an informative presentation on how to operate ClubRunner, the internet based website.
